back to school night

Last night we went to Scarlett's new school for Back to School Night. She had a blast! She chose to wear a super fancy dress and a tiara since she didn't have to wear her school uniform after hours and she had me take a ton of photos of her.

She got to eat some strawberry shaved ice and we definitely hit up the book fair and got some new books. We heard presentations from her principal, assistant principal and her teacher and got a better idea of how she spends her days at school.

She even showed us how much better she's gotten at the monkey bars - blisters on her hands and everything.

All in all, it was a good evening.

scarlett in funderland!

Last weekend we went out to grab some cinnamon rolls for breakfast and found ourselves right across the street from Funderland! We couldn't pass up the opportunity to let Scarlett go on some rides before the sweltering heat crept in [or rather, Scarlett wouldn't let us pass up the opportunity] so in we went!

Scarlett got to go on a bunch of rides and even talked Nick into going on the log swings with her. She loved it! And we even still have ride tickets left so the next time we find ourselves nearby, she can go on a few more rides, too! We had a blast even though we were only there for a little while. We'll definitely go back again soon - hopefully as soon as this hot weather takes a break!

drinking wine in a cave...

Last weekend we hung out with some friends at a winery they love - and we loved it, too! We got to eat some super yummy tri-tip sandwiches and tasted about a million wines. Well, maybe not actually a million. But there sure were a lot!

The grounds were beautiful and we even got to drink wine right from the barrel! It was amazing! Scarlett was content to hang out with her "cousins" and play on the iPad or color and we were able to relax and enjoy ourselves. It was lovely. I can't wait to go back again sometime! As I was writing this post I saw that the winery is actually for sale... I could definitely live in a wine cave. Early retirement maybe?? Does anyone have a few million they'd like to throw my way? You can drink in the wine cave with me! Cheers!

love & cupcakes,

Happy Friday! Did you do anything awesome during the eclipse on Monday? I was all by myself so I ended up at the local park with a book, squinting through the selfie camera on my phone hoping for a glimpse of the eclipse. It was pretty unsatisfying. But I saw some amazing shadows on the walk back to the car and it made the whole thing worth it. Here's what I'm up to right now...

Watching - I just finished the first season of Riverdale and I can't wait for the next one. I also just started getting back into Supernatural although I found myself getting all spooked while watching since now my couch has the front door behind it so I can't see everything while siting on it. I'm a chicken.

Reading - I'm nearing the end of Caraval and I'm loving it so far!

Eating - French Onion Sun Chips are going to be the end of me... That is all.

Anticipating - We're heading up to a winery tomorrow afternoon with my bestie and her family for some wine and tri tip. It should be fun - although it looks like it's also going to be super hot, so blargh.

Wishing - Nick is currently knockingout some of our storage boxes on the balcony and it sucks. I wish they would just empty themselves but hopefully this weekend we can get through most of them and get ourselves almost completely settled.

Working On - See above. #MovingSucks

Loving - Scarlett has Superhero Day at school today so she decided to dress as an homage to both BatGirl and Harley Quinn. So cute!

I hope you have amazing things planned for this weekend! What are you up to??

art museum sunday

We finally made some time yesterday to go check out the Hi Fructose exhibit at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento and I'm so glad we did! We ended up wandering around almost the entire museum for hours before we even made our way to the actual exhibit we had come to see. There was just so much to look at! It was wonderful...

There was this amazing exhibit called Maddest Hatter by Mark Dean Veca which Scarlett has decided is now her new room. It was so bright and exciting and awesome.

There was also an exhibit called Plink that Scarlett thought was the coolest. It was all sound and color and light and she would've spent all afternoon there if we let her.

I can absolutely see many more visits in our future. We had such a great time.
