dylan the villain!

I try to read at least two books to Scarlett every day - usually random books that I grab from the library that I think look interesting. We just read one called Dylan the Villain and I think it's one of the cutest books we've read in a while.

It's the story of a little boy named Dylan who was born a super villain - much to his parents' surprise. They think he's the greatest and most wonderful villain of all time and he agrees - until he goes to school and meets Addison Van Malice.

This book was adorable and I kind of want to be Addison now - blue hair and all. If you have littles [or even if you don't] you should totally check this book out.

currently...

Happy Friday! We [barely] made it through another week. This week has been crazy - Halloween, sickness, trips to the doctor... But we made it! Here's what I'm up to...

Reading - I'm seriously slacking on reading lately. I blame Netflix. I need to get back into my library books like crazy! The pile is stacking up...

Watching - Still majorly bingeing on How I Met Your Mother. I'm in the middle of season six and still going strong...

Anticipating - I have to go to the library later and I'm hoping to make a nice, quiet morning of it for myself. I'm going to try and get some reading done, maybe grab a coffee and just relax. Scarlett has her first real field trip on a bus today so I'm going to need some quiet time before she comes home full of stories about her trip to the farm.

Listening To - Scarlett likes to choose a "jam song" to listen to each morning on the drive to school and lately she's been going back and forth between "Oceans" by Hillsong United and "Cake By The Ocean" by DNCE. Quite a variety, right?

Eating - I'm currently obsessed with garlic hoisin chicken and green beans over rice. It's so good - I could eat it every night.

Working On - Right now I'm working on getting myself to feel better. I'm going to spend some serious time relaxing and hopefully feel all better by the weekend.

I hope your weekend is looking awesome. What are you up to?

the comeback kid

Scarlett started to feel pretty under the weather the other day and it quickly spiraled into a full on sick day complete with a visit to the doctor and medicine to take home.

Scarlett was such an amazing trooper - she even brought her barf bowl [which ended up being thankfully unnecessary] with her to the doctor and was so good during the breathing treatment. We spent the rest of the day yesterday resting up and watching a bunch of TV in between naps.

Thankfully, this morning she woke up feeling much better and was all ready to head back to school. She's so happy to be back! She was super upset to miss a day of school - hopefully she won't miss any more.

Yay for quick comebacks! Now to get me feeling better... Couch - here I come!

halloweekend fun!

The weekend before Halloween this year was full of fun. On Friday night, Scarlett's school had a Halloween dance and it was the cutest thing! All the kids dressed up and danced like little maniacs in the multipurpose room while a DJ played music, threw glow bracelets to the crowd and pumped out so much fog from the fog machine that the fire alarm went off. You know a school dance is awesome when the fire alarm goes off - especially within the first half hour! There was a gorgeous double rainbow in the sky right as the dance started and Nick even made it in time to enjoy the dance, too!

On Saturday I was feeling super under the weather so Nick and Scarlett gave me the day off and let me stay home to rest while they did gymnastics, hung out at the mall and visited with family. When they got home that afternoon, Nick gave me the best anniversary card ever and a black diamond necklace! I full on ugly cried. It was the sweetest thing ever.

Sunday was a kick back day and ended with pumpkin carving and a huge pizza for dinner. Scarlett designed the pumpkins and Nick carved them. As much as I love Halloween, Nick knows how much I hate getting my hands all yucky and covered in pumpkin guts so he did the dirty work for me. Now we have a front porch full of jack o'lanterns and a cookie sheet full of pumpkin seeds that are ready for roasting.

All in all, a super great Halloweekend...
