Disneyland lollipop tongue!

Happy Friday! We made it through another week. This week has been crazy busy - Halloween prep, hanging out with the cousins/nieces/family, unpacking, donating stuff, settling in. I can't wait for some serious downtime this weekend! Here's what I'm up to right now...

Reading - I just started Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard and I'm really enjoying it so far. My family is from Norway so Norse mythology has always been near to my heart.

Watching - Nick and I just flew through the entire first season of Veep on Amazon. I've also started watching Girls and Grimm on Amazon. Netflix on our TV has been acting up lately, so Amazon has been our go-to for the last week or so.

Anticipating - I can't wait to free myself from box purgatory! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel - it's dim and incredibly tiny, but it's there! We're making progress!

Listening To - Scarlett has been on a Monster High kick lately [as usual] and has been wanting to listen to the Monster High playlist on Spotify any chance she can get. She's just lucky those songs are pretty catchy.

Eating - I'm slowly getting back into the groove of cooking dinner for us again now that we're settling in to our own place. It's been lots of rice bowls and pasta, but I've been checking out my recipe board on Pinterest again and looking for some new, easy ideas to get me more comfortable in our new kitchen.

Working On - Finding a new routine for Scarlett and I. It's been rough these last couple of weeks - we've missed gymnastics classes and had countless errands to run, but we're finding our way little by little.

Wishing - As usual, I find myself wishing for the cooler weather to hurry up and find its way here. It's still in the 70s/80s and I just don't feel like it's fall yet until I need to wear a sweater and socks. Hopefully some cooler weather is just around the corner!

How has your week been? What are you up to?

love & cupcakes,

it's been a while...

We've been in our new apartment for a week and a day and it's already starting to feel a bit more like home. The crazy amount of purging we've been doing for the last few months has really helped in not overwhelming our new space with boxes upon boxes. There are still more boxes piled up in corners than I'd like, but it's nothing like it was when we moved into our last apartment!

The kitchen has much less storage than we're used to but we're figuring it out a bit more every day. Luckily we have more storage out on the patio than we expected so it really helps in storing the weird, random things we're not quite ready to get rid of but that we don't really want/need to display in the apartment just now. Plus living on the third floor is making our legs stronger!

I'll check in again soon with more pictures of our space... Hopefully I'll be able to post more often - the faster I settle in, the faster I'll be back on a regular schedule again!

love & cupcakes,

Scarlett totally fell asleep while eating her dinner the other night. She plays hard!

This week has been a lot of hurry up and wait. We're supposed to get the key for our new apartment tomorrow, but we may or may not be around to pick it up. The actual moving in will probably begin sometime mid-next week. Of course we chose a third story walk up [well, I kind of insisted - I miss being able to sleep with the windows open and not have to wear pants all the time!] so moving our stuff in is going to be a serious leg work out. But I have what I think is a perfect plan to knock out the moving without having to live in a home filled with boxes for six months - like I did last time. Fingers crossed it all works out!

Here's what I've been up to this week...

Reading - I'm still slowly working through the Mysterious Benedict Society but I just got not one, but TWO hold desk notices from my library letting me know that I have two books waiting for me to pick up. I need to get more reading done!!

Watching - I finally finished all of the available seasons of Grey's Anatomy on Netflix so now I can watch the current season on Hulu! I've been slowly working my way through all the episodes since before Scarlett was even born and I was on maternity leave. I feel like I just checked something huge off of my to-do list.

Anticipating - The big move! I'm excited to move in and start settling back into a regular routine. I'm probably most excited about getting my kitchen back! I can't wait to try out some new recipes.

Listening To - Scarlett has been really into listening to Monster High songs on Spotify lately. Luckily the songs are pretty catchy.

Eating - I've been trying to avoid buying new groceries until we work our way through the stuff we already have, so dinners around here have been a bit interesting lately. Moving food from one home to another has never been a fun thing for me to do, so getting creative now will save us some transporting later. That said, we've been eating a lot of rice bowls and pasta and using things like frozen chicken nuggets and garlic olive oil [not together!] to spice them up.

Working On - I'm trying to stay sane while we hammer out all of the details for moving and drain our bank account completely in order to do it. Moving sucks - and is so expensive! But I'm confident that once we're moved in, the novelty of living in a new place will keep us occupied for a while while our bank account tries to recover a bit from the major hit of moving.

Wishing - I'm really hoping that a mini-vacation we've been semi-planning will happen this weekend. It's probably not the wisest choice since we're looking at moving as soon as we would get back, but I think some fun family time will be a great motivator for us once we get back and start hauling furniture and boxes up three floors over and over and over... We're going to need some fun memories to pull from while we're sweating and swearing.

Change is in the air around here! I'll keep you all posted on our new space and how we adjust to it... What are you up to?

love & cupcakes,

pumpkin patching...

A few weeks ago, we stopped by a pumpkin patch on the way home from the beach and we ended up with about a million pumpkins to bring home. It was awesome. And we have more pumpkin patch trips to share!

Scarlett thought this stem looked just like a seahorse!

I love pumpkin patch season! We'll definitely have more pumpkins photos to come!

scarlett style...

Scarlett has discovered YouTube makeup tutorials and has become fascinated with applying makeup. It's definitely made things a bit more interesting around here lately...

She just got some cute hand me downs from her cousins so this week might bring some new styles! Stay tuned!
