Watching -- I'm so excited for Sunday so we can watch the new season of Arrested Development on Netflix! Eeep!
Anticipating -- This glorious long weekend. Hopefully we can get a few projects done around the house [hanging Scarlett's blinds, covering Nick's office window, etc] but mostly I just want to hang out with Nick and Scarlett and have mellow downtime. That's my favorite. Especially after last weekend's craziness!
Listening To -- A ton of Thirty Seconds to Mars. I'm completely hooked.
Eating -- Breakfast sandwiches! My friend Cassandra blogged her homemade breakfast sandwich recipe and I adapted it for our family. I use one egg, a dash of milk and pepper, some turkey bacon and gouda cheese on extra crispy english muffins. I love them! So quick and easy to pop in the microwave on mornings when we go with Nick to the Bay. And much cheaper than grabbing a sandwich on the way!
Working On -- I really want to start having "school-time" with Scarlett each day. Carve out a little corner of the house where she can practice her coloring, counting and reading. She can already count up to fifteen by herself [if she feels like it!] and loves to color, but it always becomes such a mess in the kitchen and living room. She needs her own creative space.
Wishing -- For more three day weekends! There should totally be at least one a month, right??
What do you have planned for your weekend? Anything fun?
love & cupcakes,
These posts are inspired by Danielle's weekly "Currently" posts. Check them out!
We went for our regular weekly hike with Jamie on Tuesday morning, but instead of heading to the lake like we always do, we hit up the marina instead. That's where the 10k that I'm planning on running is going to be held, so we thought we would go and check it out.
I loved it! We did an easy 6+ miles - easy because the trail is pretty flat and since the water is right next to us, we got a pretty good breeze blowing the entire time. Scarlett buried herself beneath her blanket for most of the walk since the wind was so strong!
I can't wait to go back. If I keep walking there at least once a week or so, I'll knock out the rest of my 365 miles for the year easy! I've only got 166 more to go!
Poor Miss Scarlett was knocked out yesterday with a bit of a fever [it's been making its way through the cousins] so we didn't get to go out to her uncle's birthday dinner tonight. But we spent the day lounging around, eating snacks and watching a ton of Jake and the Neverland Pirates. Scarlett loves them! She seems to be feeling much better now, so hopefully the worst is behind us.
I hate to see her not feeling well, but I adore how snuggly she gets when she's sick. ♥
There were no Red Vines and popcorn, no ocean breezes and sandy strolls.
My weekend turned out completely differently than I had planned it.
And it was amazing.
Nick was able to get us tickets for BFD on Sunday. And not just any tickets - ALL ACCESS ARTIST BADGES!!! We were able to stand on the wings backstage to watch STP and Of Monsters and Men perform, we sat in the VIP bar and had a beer, we snagged a water from Jimmy Eat World's table outside their trailer - I even used the bands' porta-potty! We had such a great time. And I totally forgot how much I liked 30 Seconds to Mars! Their set was awesome and we didn't even get to stay for all of it!
Our view from backstage.
Of Monsters and Men - both onstage and blocking our view backstage.
STP with Chester from Linkin Park - I was pretty impressed!
30 Seconds to Mars were fantastic!! I loved their set!
I'm so glad we were able to see the end of Jimmy Eat World's set - Parking was a nightmare so we skipped the lot and walked over a mile to get to the show. Totally worth it!
Nick, enjoying the perks of an all access pass - water!
Yep, that's Jim Adkins from Jimmy Eat World behind Nick. I just couldn't bring myself to nerd out and ask for a picture with him. So I just snuck one in over Nick's shoulder.
Nick and the one and only Mr. Steve Masters! This guy is amazing.
Nerds in the seventh row!
Oh, hello Jared Leto.
Nick even got a few minutes of 30 Seconds to Mars on film. They were so good.
I forgot how much fun going to a show with Nick can be. It's been quite a while! We need to do this more often. Especially if there are backstage passes involved!
We're heading to the ocean today for a Mama's Day makeup session!
We wanted to wait until after Mother's Day to celebrate my day and today is the day! I'm so excited! All I want is a ton of coffee, some sea breezes and Scarlett and Nick by my side. Sounds heavenly....
I'm over halfway through my 365 miles in 2013 walking challenge! Woo hoo!
Scarlett has really been into hiking with us lately, too. Although, she's figured out that she only likes running downhill or on the flat trail. As soon as she sees a hill coming, she jumps in front of my friend Jamie and asks her to carry her. What a little hustler!
And she never passes up a chance to play!
We even saw some baby geese at the lake! Scarlett was super interested and wanted to touch them. But then she saw the big geese and took off chasing after them instead.
I'm so glad we started hiking at the lake once a week!
