Scarlett loves her "possickles!"

I haven't posted one of these in a while! Here's what I'm up to currently...

Reading -- I'm working on "Heaven" by Alexandra Adornetto. It's the third book of the "Halo" trilogy. Not terrible so far...

Watching -- I haven't had time to watch anything lately! I've been slowly working my way through Gossip Girl on Netflix, but it's taking me forever... Maybe one day Scarlett will decide to take normal naps again so I can actually watch something again!

Anticipating -- Our joint birthday party on Saturday! We're having a beer tasting contest! Yum!

Listening To -- Scarlett has been all into The Lorax movie lately so I have a bunch of the soundtrack on my phone ready to go!

Eating -- I made some killer brownies last week! Dark chocolate sea salt caramel brownies for my book club and some peanut butter fudge brownies for home! So good! And I need to start working on figuring out cupcakes for our party this weekend. I'm thinking yellow cake with chocolate frosting - our favorite!

Working On -- I've been reading a bunch lately. I'm trying to make my way through 25 books this year and I'm on my way! I've finished six so far with more on the way! Plus, I've been trying to walk a lot lately. This week hasn't been so good [it's been beyond windy out here!] but I'm up to 4.73 miles for this week [that's only Wednesday though!] and 81.07 miles this year! Woo hoo!

Wishing -- I'm wishing that winter would stick around a bit longer... Everything is blossoming around here and all the birds and bees have made their way home. I miss the cold - I feel like we barely even had a winter this year! Grrr....

What are you up to currently???

they say it's your birthday!

Well, actually, they say it's MY birthday! Yay!

My dad came over and brought me flowers and took Scarlett and I out for lunch and coffee. So sweet!

Today has been pretty rad so far... =]

Nick's 90s Picks!

"This band may have been a one-hit wonder, but damn is it an amazing hit. It is extremely hard to make an acoustic guitar song something that you want to bang your head to but this song pulls it off. This is hands-down one of the best acoustic songs ever written, and is a lot of fun to play." - Nick

all the small things...

The other morning Scarlett hopped up into bed with me and promptly took over my side of the bed. When I told her that she was on my pillow, she replied, "Now MY pillow!" and that was that...

75.56 down...

And only 289.42 to go!

I'm well on my way to my 365 miles in 2013 goal!

power napper...

For three days in a row, Scarlett has fallen asleep during our morning walk...

Apparently, walking is boring...

Mini Craft Time!

I totally got the urge to make a mini craft the other day out of nowhere... Luckily, I'm usually pretty well-stocked with crafty supplies so I was good to go.

I decided to make a doily garland! So simple! All I needed was some mini paper doilies [I used 26 total, but you can use as many as you want to], some yarn [or string works well, too] and some double-sided tape.

Just fold the doilies in half, drape over the yarn or string and affix closed with double-sided tape. That's it!

Once your garland is as long as you want it to be, just tie the ends to a curtain rod or pin them to a wall and you're done!

Quick and easy - my favorite kind of craft!

Nick's 90s Picks!

"Collective Soul is one of the few (very, very few) bands that my mother and I can agree on. In fact, we even danced to this song at our wedding. One thing that always ticks me off though is that this song has a heavy bridge with a great guitar solo that usually gets cut out when they play this song on the radio: just one of the many reasons why radio stations suck. But I digress... This is a quintessential 90's song that makes it onto countless lists." - Nick

Book Review - Night Road

I read this book for my very first book club meeting and I loved it! It was such fun to talk about a book with other fun ladies and to hear their opinions and ideas. I can't wait until the next one!

This book had me up super late into the night reading - I couldn't put it down. It really hit me hard and I found myself sobbing at points. It's the story of Jude, her twins, Mia and Zach, and their close friend, Alexa. Alexa comes from the "wrong side of the tracks" and finds a home in a small town outside of Seattle with her  great aunt, making friends with Mia and becoming like a member of the family. Then one summer night, an accident changes the course of everyone's lives forever.

As a mother, this book had me up and down all over the place. I could relate to some things and got furiously mad at other things. I even had to get up at one point in the middle of the night just to check on Scarlett and tell her that I loved her.

This book was amazing and I highly recommend it.

all the small things...

Scarlett decided that she needed to wear her dress on our walk the other day - even though it was near freezing outside! She's really getting into deciding what she wants to wear and what she doesn't. I've been finding her in her crib with clothes that she's picked out of her drawers or closet - she's been trying to change her outfit before she falls asleep! So cute...

Our Day of Love...

We had such a nice Valentine's Day this year!

We started the day with presents - Nick got me a Taffyta Muttonfudge race car! I love it!

Scarlett and I came out to the Bay with Nick and spent the day hanging out while Nick worked.  We had chicken nuggets and cake pops and refused to take a nap. It was a blast.

She finally fell asleep for a bit on the way to pick up Nick - thank goodness!

Nick brought me flowers! So sweet!

Scarlett went to have some Grandpa time so Nick and I could go to the movies. We got to have an actual date night! Yay! We saw Warm Bodies - it was really cute! I totally enjoyed it.

Then we went to a local bar and grill and had some amazing drinks for happy hour. I got a pear bellini and Nick had a basil gimlet - so yummy!!!

After our happy hour we hit the drive-thru and got Taco Bell for dinner - the perfect end to a lovely night!

I hope your Valentine's Day was amazing!

happy hearts day!

Today is my favorite day of the year! I LOVE Valentines Day!!!

The Mr. and I are planning on seeing a movie today [something we NEVER get to do anymore!] and maybe grabbing something to eat. I'm so happy to be having a date night!

What do you have planned for today???

Nick's 90s Picks!

"I don't know if I can say anything about this song that hasn't already been said. It took a band that was already becoming very popular and solidified them as worldwide rock gods. This song also has many different interpretations by guitarists as to what is the 'best' way to play it."

This kids cool factor is off the charts...

What are we going to do when she gets even older?!?!

Nick's 90s Picks!

"To me, this is one of the few Offspring songs that stands the test of time. This song has great rhythm and lead guitar riffs and the vocalist really gets to showcase his ability to belt out the vocals.  This song probably makes it in the top 20 best rock songs from the 90s."
- Nick

I love this one...

currently...

This little peanut is getting so big!

I haven't done one of these posts in a while! Here's what I'm up to currently...

Reading -- Right now I'm reading a couple books. Mostly "Everneath" by Brodi Ashton. I'm liking it so far, but in all honesty, I haven't been giving it enough attention. I need to find a good book to present at our next book club meeting and I'm super nervous about picking a good one that hasn't already been read by everyone. The thought of presenting is giving me butterflies in my stomach!

Watching -- I can't believe that the series finale of 30 Rock was last night! I haven't been able to watch it yet [we watch it on Hulu so it isn't available until the next day] so hopefully I won't see or hear any spoilers! I should just stay offline until we can watch it, huh?

Anticipating -- We're in my favorite month now! And my calendar is already filling up - I have craft days scheduled, friend dates, book club meetings and even MY BIRTHDAY! I love February!

Listening To -- I clicked on the Amazon MP3 app on my phone the other day [it came with the phone] and I found out that all of the CDs that we've bought from Amazon are available to be played through my phone! I'm so excited! I don't get to listen to my CDs very often in the car or at home since Scarlett is very opinionated and always wants to listen to the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack over and over and over and over... Now I can listen to my stuff on my phone! Woo hoo!

Eating -- I've been in a baking mood again recently - which isn't so great for our waistlines! But brownies are soooo good... Especially still warm from the oven!

Working On -- Sloooooowly getting the house back in order from Christmas. The tree just came down last weekend! But little by little I'm getting my library and dining room back!

Wishing -- I wish Scarlett would go back to taking regular naps again. She's been all over the place with them lately - taking long ones, not taking one at all, taking them before lunch, taking them after 4pm! I have no way of knowing if or when she's going to knock out! It makes doing stuff a bit difficult. Hopefully it's just a phase and she'll grow out of it - soon!

What are you currently up to??
