the tree is up!

And it only took about 45 minutes! Nick is awesome!
Now we just need to get the ornaments out of storage and get to decorating!

We're off to the Dickens Fair tomorrow - Nick has never been so this should be fun!
Happy *almost* Christmas!

scarlett's room

We've been working in the baby's room like crazy lately! It's finally coming along! Woo hoo! And I'd just about given up on it ever getting anywhere....

We painted the room last weekend and after we let it dry for a few days we began to move the furniture in and get things ready....

On Tuesday we hit up Target and got some super cute accessories to spruce up the place.... They have the cutest lamps and night-lights right now! And the wall decals are adorable!

Scarlett's room is quickly becoming the coziest, nicest room in the whole house.... ♥

love & cupcakes,

I know that  Thanksgiving was technically yesterday, but I'm a procrastinator at heart so here you go: my Thanksgiving post a day late...

I am thankful for my awesome family - they crack me up to no end and provide endless hours of entertainment. They're also the coolest people I know, even when they're being incredibly dorky. They're always there for me no matter what. ♥

I'm thankful for my amazing husband who totally saved the day last night when he was able to fix a flat tire in near freezing temperatures while keeping both his 9+ months pregnant wife and grandmother-in-law calm and collected. He's more amazing than I even have words to express.... ♥

I'm thankful for my friends and loved ones - even though it's been hard to see them as often as I'd like, I think of them all the time and hope that once this baby is out here with us, we'll be able to hang out more often. ♥
And I'm thankful like crazy for this little munchkin that's growing inside of me. There are only a few weeks left until she's out here for everyone else to love and enjoy... And as trying as these last nine months have been, I know it's all going to be beyond worth it once she's here. ♥
I hope all of you had an amazing Thanksgiving yesterday and didn't get too crazy out there shopping today!

love & cupcakes,

37 weeks!

I passed my 37 week mark yesterday - we have less than three weeks left until this little one may be joining us out here in the "real world!" Only 20 days to go!

We got the nursery underway - there's still a ton of laundry and prepping to do, but most of the furniture is put together and it's really coming along.... Scarlett's room is quickly turning into the coziest room in the house! ♥

I can barely fit into a picture all the way anymore [unless it's a wide-angle lens, of course]. =P

love & cupcakes,

xmas wish list: update!

Nick got me a camera! Woo hoo! So now my Christmas wish list needs to be updated...

Plus, the amazing Nicole sent me one of her copies of The Wonder Spot so now I can mark that off of my list, too! And it's not even December yet!

love & cupcakes,

baking with isabelle...

The other day my mom and I spent the afternoon baking cookies with Miss Isabelle - it was quite an adventure in sugar and chocolate...

We were going to make gingerbread [Isabelle's favorite], sugar [her Uncle Nick's favorite], snickerdoodle [my favorite] and peanut butter [Grandma's favorite] but after only two batches we were so sugared out, we decided to stop and save the sugar and snickerdoodle for another day.

Photos - in no particular order... ♥
Isabelle getting the gingerbread dough ready for forming cookies.

Isabelle wanted to add chocolate "buttons" to the gingerbread cookies.

Ready for the oven!

Putting the "buttons" on!

Peanut butter thumbprint cookies...

The official cookie taster. ♥

She's amazing at her job... =]

Gingerbread cookies - ready to be scarfed!

Isabelle tried to make a gingerbread snowman, but it ended up more like a gingerbread blob of sugar and chocolate... Still super yummy though!

Happy baking!

love &cupcakes,

25 days to go!

I'm getting huuuuuuuge..... ♥

love & cupcakes,

ps: Nick got me a new camera so expect more picture heavy posts to come! =]

So I made my way to Michael's and Borders a little while ago - my two favorite places to be - and I barely lasted 15 minutes in each store!
I get tired so quickly and easily now that it's almost unbearable to go to these places because a few minutes after I get there, I start looking around for somewhere I can sit comfortably for a minute.
No fun.

So needless to say I didn't end up stockpiling as many crafty items as I wanted to...
And instead of coming home with a few new books to read I only grabbed two magazines and rushed to the register do I could get back in the car and sit down for a few.

But the magazine I got should be good - it's "Real Simple." The December issue. I really like checking out all the gift ideas and recipes - last year's issue is still in my craft room and I still check it out all the time to get inspired. Hopefully this one is just as good... ♥

love & cupcakes,

crafty stockpiling...

I've been feeling the urge lately to stockpile up crafting supplies - rolls of felt, jewelry making supplies, paint, wood, fabric - the works. I want to have everything on hand, but I'm not feeling particularly inspired to actually *make* anything - which makes stockpiling a little difficult in that I don't really know what it is that I'm looking for or need.

It's like I know that after Miss Scarlett arrives, my ability and desire to go out, drive the 18+ miles to the nearest craft store and find craft supplies will diminish so I want to be ready now. Plus, Christmas is right around the corner and I've yet to begin making the projects that I wanted to...
Not to mention the countless birthdays we have that lead right up to Christmas Eve!

I'm thinking about heading over to the craft store today and hoping that inspiration will strike me once I get there... And that I finally find my stupid camera so I can show you what I'll be working on!

What projects are you currently working on?

love & cupcakes,

christmas list!

I thought I would make it a bit easier for my mom [who has been asking for Christmas lists for a few weeks now!] if I just posted my ever-expanding list here so she can check it anytime she'd like - instead of me having to email a million different versions to her over the holiday season. Plus, this way I can add direct links to the goodies that may be a bit hard to find out there in the real world.

 Unfortunately, it's been sold. =[

I'm sure this list will get updated before Christmas actually gets here...
I'm always adding things and changing my mind.

What's on your Christmas list this year???

love & cupcakes,

*updated - 11.26.10*

day three...

So today is day three of my maternity leave.... And I'm already getting a bit stir-crazy.

I know I know - I should be relishing this quiet time before Miss Scarlett gets here and rocks my world, but I'm still going a little nuts by myself. It's tough to live out in the boonies when the rest of the family works and lives over an hour away.

Nick is going to get the baby's room painted this weekend so next week I'll actually be able to start setting things up in there so this week is a bit of a loss for me unless I feel like cleaning... Which I do, but only in little tiny spurts before I get so tired I collapse on the couch and watch terrible reality TV on Netflix.

Any suggestions on stuff to occupy my time with this week before I can really get going in the baby's room?

love & cupcakes,

So does the "nesting" portion of being knocked up include sitting around reading blogs while gorging on leftover Halloween candy while listening to Jimmy Eat World on Pandora? If so, then consider me a master-nester! ♥

Happy Monday [and my first day of maternity leave!]

love & cupcakes,

pumpkin patching!

On Halloween Nick and I checked out the huge corn maze and pumpkin patch in our town. We missed out last year since we threw our First Annual Huggett House Halloween Spooktacular on actual Halloween and it was so crazy that we hardly left our house except to get more party supplies.

So this year we checked it out the day after our party and had a blast! Here are some cheesy videos we shot on our trip so the baby can see what we were up to while she was still baking [it didn't last too long - the corn maze was over three miles long and I could barely make it through the small part!].

Enjoy! ♥

anniversary update! ♥

Nick downloaded some of the pictures he took with his phone from our anniversary trip to Monterey so I thought I would share them with you....
 Monterey, Ca
 At the waterfront...
About to head out to dinner on our first night there...
Yes - I'm getting ready to pop!
And I'm never wearing a gray tank top again! Huuuuuge!
This old clock was awesome! We totally need one for our house!
 Anniversary smooches... ♥
We stopped at a garlic stand on the way home.
So cheesy....
